Shafer Historical Museum 2024 events calendar.

Shafer Museum is open from May 10 on weekends and daily starting May 24 daily through September 3. Docents are on staff from 10-5. The Museum’s address is 285 Castle Avenue, Winthrop, Washington. See the website for more details – www.shafermuseum.org

 

May 10-12 ‘49s Parade’ and Museum opening. May 10, ride to the Rendezvous trail riders come through town at 11am. May 11, ‘49ers Parade at 11 am, watch the parade from the Museum hillside. May 12, Gobblers Knob bluegrass, folk and rock music, bring your chairs and blankets after a Mother’s Day brunch.

May 10-September 3 “Traditional Handcrafts, featuring work by Methow Valley pioneer Helen Watson Krinke and other ladies. This exhibit has over 75 handmade items, including quilting, weaving, crocheting, tatting, knitting, spinning and carding, and embroidery. It is displayed in three buildings on the village campus.

Saturday afternoon handwork demonstrations, 1-4pm:

June 8: Quilting

June 22: Spinning and carding

July 13: Crocheting and tatting

July 27: Embroidery

August 3: Weaving

August 17: Knitting

June 30, 2-5: Shafer Museum Summer Social. Music by Hank Cramer. A history overview of what happened in the Methow Valley in 1924. Come join us for an old-time summer get-together of music, socializing and learning more about our common history. Summer drinks, treats and shade provided.

August 5-8 and 12-15, 9-3: Build and Tinker Summer Camp for 8–11-year olds

Late August and September: Come see our Capital Heritage project’s work in progress. Reroofing and masonry work.

November 29, 10-5: Christmas Comes to the End of the Road. Winthrop’s winter welcome, fireworks, horse-drawn wagon rides, hot cider, brats, and other treats. Live music.
